Structure and Reactions of Exotic Nuclei
نویسنده
چکیده
Systematic studies of isotopic chains including nuclides from the proton to the neutron dripline are an ideal testing ground for nuclear structure theory. Results of Hartree{Fock calculations for magnesium and tin isotopes are discussed. Ground states and the multipole response of superheavy nuclei are investigated with HF and RPA calculations. Exploratory calculations for single nucleon transfer reactions on dripline nuclei are presented. As an example, results for inverse kinematics (d,p) reactions on Sn isotopes are presented.

Probing the states of nucleons in exotic nuclei
Many of the most exotic neutron-proton asymmetric nuclei are produced in relatively small numbers in high-energy fragmentation reactions. They are produced as fast secondary beams with energies of 100 MeV per nucleon or more. Developments made and recent results that both exploit and assess fast oneand two-nucleon removal reactions from such secondary beams are reviewed. This includes very rece...
متن کاملNuclear structure far from stability
Modern nuclear structure theory is rapidly evolving towards regions of exotic shortlived nuclei far from stability, nuclear astrophysics applications, and bridging the gap between low-energy QCD and the phenomenology of finite nuclei. The principal objective is to build a consistent microscopic theoretical framework that will provide a unified description of bulk properties, nuclear excitations...
متن کاملLarge Acceptance Spectrometers for Invariant Mass Spectroscopy of Exotic Nuclei and Future Developments
Large acceptance spectrometers at in-flight RI separators have played significant roles in investigating the structure of exotic nuclei. Such spectrometers are in particular useful for probing unbound states of exotic nuclei, using invariant mass spectroscopy with reactions at intermediate and high energies. We discuss here the key characteristic features of such spectrometers, by introducing t...
متن کاملDirect reaction probes of single-particle states and correlations
The most exotic neutron-proton asymmetric nuclei are produced most efficiently in high-energy fragmentation reactions. These exotic nuclei are produced as fast secondary beams with energies of order 100 MeV per nucleon or greater, and hence v/c > 0.3, often with relatively low intensities. For such beams one can exploit both the detection efficiency and the cross sections for fast oneand two-nu...

The INFN (Italian National Institute for Nuclear Physics) has approved a national theoretical network on ”Structure and Reactions with Exotic Nuclei”. The project involves the INFN branches of Laboratorio Nazionale del Sud, Padova and Pisa. The aim of the project is to start coordinating and to homogenize the research already performed in Italy in this field and to strengthen and improve the It...
